DONNING THE BRACE FOR THE FIRST TIME
WITH A DOCTOR TECHNICIAN
1 Undo all the straps and fasten them back on themselves for the time being.
2 Place the brace on the arm and hand with the palm facing upwards to check which alterations need
to be made (fig. A).
3 Adapt the brace to fit the patient and according to medical instructions by shaping the metal core:
– shape the wrist area (this can be made easier by using a rounded surface for leverage) (fig. B)
– adapt the forearm section (fig. C)
– shape the area around the hand and fingers (fig. D).
4 If necessary, the wrist strap can be shortened before fitting the brace on the patient by removing the
Y-shaped Velcro® fastening, cutting the strap to the desired length, and repositioning the Y-shaped
Velcro® fastening.
5 Place the brace on the arm and hand with the palm facing upwards (fig. E) and for convenience first
fasten the strap nearest the elbow by passing it through the ring provided and fastening it back on
itself with the Velcro® (fig. F).
6 Next fasten the remaining straps with Velcro®, namely the straps for the hand and fingers and the
wrist strap (fig. G-H-I).
